Murder Mystery: Who Killed the Chemical Engineer?

A known chemical engineer professor was found murdered at his home this morning. 

The detectives investigated and narrowed it down to six suspects. 

The names of the suspects were as follows;

Frank, Mark, Alex, Nicolas, jonathan and Steve.

The detectives then found a note with the body which had the following numbers: 

28-27-57-16

The detectives arrested the murderer on finding this note. 

Who was the killer?

Explanation:

The biggest hint in this riddle lies in the fact that the victim was a chemical engineer.

So the numbers have to be associated with chemicals. So the detectives pulled up a periodic table and found the symbols of the chemicals to which the numbers refer to.

So they found the following;

28- Ni

27- Co

57- La

16 – S

Hence, the killer was Ni-co-la-s.
