Few Nostalgic Things From Our Indian Childhood

India was way different from what it is now. It was the eighties. Our generation has seen a major shift in almost everything. Things known to us in childhood are obsolete now. It is great to sometimes look back and cherish those days.

Life seemed so uncomplicated and fun then, now, somehow we have preconceived notions about what fun should be, and we fail to derive pleasure out of the simple things in life.

There are so many memories and so many things I miss about my childhood or teenage life.

Back in the days we had just one TV Channel Doordarshan and we used to religiously watch whatever was shown to us. I miss “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”, Chitrahaar, Rangoli, Malgudi Days and Wagle Ki Duniya. Even the ads used to fascinate us. I din’t miss even a single advertisement shown on TV.

For the guys in our generation only the mention of some words in enough to take us on a nostalgic ride. Some of these words would be;

  • The soft drinks Gold Spot, Thumps Up, Mangola etc.
  • Pan Pasand and Pan parag pan masala
  • Phantom Cigarettes
  • Lagori
  • Cassettes and 2-in-1s (no CDs and CD players in our time)
  • Cameras with Rolls (no Digital Cameras or phones with camera in fact no mobile phones either)

Pictures are worth a thousand words. So if you want a great nostalgic trip, scroll down through the images below.
